Dive Theory Lesson
Welcome to the world of BSAC!
The Ocean Diver is the entry level course into the BSAC system. This course aims to teach you the basics of diving theory and safe practices. You will experience the underwater world using scuba down to 20m. You also have the opportunity to use different gas blends to help maximise your time and enjoyment underwater.
The course scheduele is as follows;
Day 1;
Afternoon
- Ocean Diver Theory 1 - Ocean Diver Training Introduction to the BSAC branch.
- Ocean Diver Theory 2 – Diving equipment and dive signals Basic understanding of equipment and signals used by the diver in the underwater environment.
- Ocean Diver Theory 3 - The body and the effects of diving Have a basic understanding of the body mechanisms, metabolism, respiration , circulation and the effects of air and pressure on these functions.
Day 2;
Morning
- Ocean Diver Theory 4 - Planning to go diving How to plan a dive and the use of BSAC decompression tables.
- Ocean Diver Theory 5 – Going Diving The importance of the buddy system and diver conduct underwater.
Afternoon
- Sheltered Water Lessons 1-5 – Getting comfortable and competent in the use of scuba equipment and preparation for the open water environment.
Day 3;
Morning
- Ocean Diver Theory 6 – What happens if ……..Understanding that anticipating and reacting to problems is part if training and dive planning.
- Ocean Diver Theory 7 – Enjoying your diving The different types of diving and points of interest for you the diver.
Afternoon
- Open Water lessons 1, 2, 3 – 3 dives in depths ranging from 6-10m in a protected environment.
Day 4;
Morning
- Open Water Lessons 4 – 5 – The last 2 dives ranging from 12-20m. For added safety Nitrox mixes 32% and 36% can be used.
Afternoon
- Ocean Diver Theory Exam – Short test on theory learnt during the course followed by certification and logging of dives.
